Sure I Can Bake!

Don't ask me for recipes. Not digital. Old fashioned cookbook. Seriously old fashioned cookbook. The one I grew up with: Fanny Farmer. That would be Oatmeal Bread at the top and Cream Scones at the bottom there.
So, I was in a mood. It lasted one whole day and this is what came of it.
Back to spinning, knitting and way too much time on the computer.

Fannie Farmer Oatmeal Crumb Topping is one of my all time favorites!

I love Marion Cunningham.

I've been wanting to bake some bread. Haven't done that is years, but suddenly I have this need to knead.

Oh, and I think I forgot to say that this was the first bread I ever baked ;-)

Yeah, I'm in a mood, too. Yesterday it was chocolate chip shortbread (again, for tonight's knit nite) and chocolate truffle sauce (for Sunday auction). It's all about sugar, baby. At least you made real bread! Congrats on your successful first loaf!

Nice baking, Melissa.. it all looks wonderful!
My sweetie was a professional baker for 16 yrs so we get alot of baked stuff still round here.

Ann's started other bakers off with the Tassajara Bread Book. When I first learned to bake bread, years ago, I started with a King Arthur flour video and a recipe from The Enchanted Broccoli Forest. Best initial bread mentors I could find before I found Ann.

It's so nice finding folks getting back into making their own bread. Our neighbor keeps sending us pics of his latest loaves on Facebook.. and bringing us samples. It's so much fun!

Enjoy!
